Real Estate Licensing Alberta

Online Real Estate Courses

Getting Your Real Estate License Starts Here!

Start your real estate career today by enrolling in your online real estate training courses. Your pre-requisite courses will include the Fundamentals of Real Estate and one or more of the practice courses related to the areas of real estate you're planning on practicing, i.e., residential real estate, commercial real estate, property management, and/or rural (agri-business). With flexible online course delivery and support from industry experts and practicing real estate agents, you can get your mandatory training finished in a way that suits your schedule and needs.

You will earn a certificate for each course you complete in this program.

How to get your realty license

  1. Review Real Estate Council of Alberta's (RECA)  eligibility requirements to become a licensee and follow the steps on the webpage to create your MyRECA account.
  2. Receive your eligibility acceptance letter from RECA. Your letter will contain your RECA CON ID number, which you need before registering for your course(s).
  3. Register for your course(s).
    1. Fundamentals of Real Estate (RELA100) must be completed first, and you will have 3 months to complete it. Note: You must provide your RECA eligibility letter and Learner Letter Form to register in RELA courses to confirm your eligibility.
    2. Once NAIT has notified RECA of your course completion, you have 3 months to write your exam. The exam will be administered in a physical exam centre and will take around 3 hours to complete. See the full details under RECA's exam section.
    3. Write your exam. You have 2 attempts to pass the licensing exam, and a minimum of 70% is required.
  4. After completion of the Real Estate Fundamentals course and a successful exam pass, RECA will notify you that you are eligible to register in a specialization course from one of the following practice areas:
    1. Residential
    2. Commercial
    3. Rural
    4. Property Management
  5. After passing both the Fundamentals and the specialization area exam, refer to steps 5 to 7 on RECA's licensing page.
