Course topics covered include: Energy and matter exchange in the biosphere, ecosystems and population change, photosynthesis and cellular respiration and exchange of energy and matter in human systems.

Course topics covered include: Chromosomes, DNA, and cell division, human nervous system, endocrine system, human reproduction system and embryonic/ fetal development and classical and population genetics. Biology 20 recommended

The topics covered in Chemistry 20 include Chemistry bonding, Solution gas, and acid-base chemistry, and stoichiometry of chemical reactions.

Course topics covered include: Thermochemical Change, Electrochemical Changes, Chemical Equilibrium focusing on acid-base systems and Chemical Changes of Organic Compounds.

This course provides the beginner-level user with the basic skills necessary to start functioning on a microcomputer in the Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. Also, this course provides the student with study skills including time management, library research, note-taking, teamwork, goal-setting, positive attitude and resume writing.

This is a 15 week course of 7 hours per week in which students are expected to improve reading comprehension skills and develop critical and analytical reading skills by studying a variety of literary texts including short stories, essays, a Shakespearean play, a feature film, and poetry. Students are supposed to develop proficiency in sentence construction and be able to revise texts in progress and to create critical and analytical responses to literary texts. The goal of the course is to foster “an appreciation of the significance and artistry of literature” and to facilitate a student’s ability to “understand and appreciate language and use it confidently for a variety of purposes and in a variety of situations for communication, personal satisfaction and learning.” (From the Program of Studies for Senior High School English Language Arts, 2003, Alberta Learning Curriculum Branch.)

Students in this course are expected to lay a foundation for the development of critical and analytical reading skills by studying a variety of print and non-print texts, including short stories, popular non-fiction, a book-length fiction or non-fiction, poetry and film. Students are expected to develop strategies to improve sentence construction skills and be able to detect and correct common sentence faults while responding personally and critically to literary texts. The goal of the course is to foster "an appreciation of the significance and artistry of literature" and to facilitate a student's ability to "understand and appreciate language and use it confidently for a variety of purposes and in a variety of situations for communication, personal satisfaction and learning".

This is a 15 week course of 7 hours per week in which students are expected to further develop close reading and critical reading skills in order to understand contextual elements, subtle nuance, symbolic language and subtext found in increasingly sophisticated literacy texts including short stories, essays, a Shakespearean play, a feature film or modern play, and poetry. Students are expected to demonstrate proficiency with sentence structure and essay format and will be required to respond critically and analytically to literary texts. The goal of the course is to foster "an appreciation of the significance and artistry of literature" and to facilitate a student's ability to "understand and appreciate language and use it confidently for a variety of purposes and in a variety of situations for communication, personal satisfaction and learning."

This course is designed to reacquaint students with a base level of mathematics that will provide a foundation of skills that can be built upon in the Math 20 level. Students will be studying topics covering Measurements, Geometry, Trigonometry, Polynomials, Relations, Linear Functions and Systems of Linear Equations.

This course is designed to further develop students' algebraic, trigonometric and graphical reasoning skills in preparation for Math 30-1. Course topics include: Factoring, Radical Equations, Rational Equations, Sine/Cosine Laws, Quadratic Functions and Equations, Systems of Non-linear Equations, and Sequences & Series.

Mathematics 20-2 prepares students for success in Mathematics 30-2. This route is a non-calculus pathway designed for students entering diverse post-secondary programs including applied health, arts, business, and technology programs Topics in this course include quadratic functions, radical equations, geometry, sine/cosine laws and statistics. As you move through these topics you will enhance your algebraic, graphical, logical, proportional, and spatial reasoning skills.

This fast-paced course covers the fundamentals from both Math 10C and Math 20-1 that will be required in Math 30-1. It bridges students who have Applied Math 30 and need Math 30-1 or Math 30-2. Note that Math 20T is recognized as a prerequisite for Math 30-2 or Math 30-1 at NAIT only and will not be recognized by other post-secondary institutions. Course topics include: Linear systems, Polynomials, Factoring, Rational Expressions and Equations, Radical Expressions and Equations, Quadratics, and Trigonometry Outside Quadrant I.

This course builds upon skills in Math 10C and Math 20-1/20T to further develop student's algebraic, trigonometric, and graphical reasoning skills in preparation for admission in to many post-secondary programs. Course topics include: Function Operations, Polynomial/Rational/Exponential/Logarithmic/Trigonometric Functions, Trigonometric Identities and Equations, Complex Numbers and Combinatorics.

Course topics include: Trigonometry, probability, and relations and functions. By participating in the course it is expected that students will: 1) develop algebraic and graphical reasoning through the study of relations; 2) develop trigonometric reasoning; 3) develop critical thinking skills related to uncertainty; and 4) develop logical reasoning.

Course topics covered include: conversion of units, vectors, linear, rotational and circular motion, Newton's laws of motion, uniform circular accelerated motion, work, power & energy and wave properties. Prerequisite: Science 10 recommended.

Course topics covered include: Conservation of energy and momentum, static electricity and Coulomb's law, electric fields and capacitors, current and resistance, series, parallel circuits and magnetic fields, electromagnetic induction and radiation, and quantum theory and nuclear physics. Prerequisite: Physics 20
