Overview

NAIT's Professional Development for Medical Radiological Technologists courses are designed for MRT's looking to acquire a new skill or to perfect an existing one. Whether you're looking to refresh your base knowledge in a topic, expand your hands-on skills, or enhance your leadership and supervisory abilities, NAIT can help you achieve your goals.

These courses qualify for Continuing Competency Program (CCP) hours required of current MRTs by the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).

Online Courses

The computer-based courses range from 16 to 51 hours and are self-paced and delivered online. Within a generous, but specified time limit, students complete a course at their own rate with the support of an online tutor.


Hands-on Training and Workshops

Hands-on training options include courses that provide the skills you need to respond to a medical emergency or accident-related injury, skills that will allow you to provide support to someone experiencing a mental health crisis, and workshops to help you perfect or develop skills such as venipuncture and performing ECGs.


Leadership Training

These courses provide foundational skills for aspiring leaders and skills enhancement for existing leaders and supervisors. You will gain skills and learn strategies that you can immediately incorporate into your workplace and daily life.

  • Blended: Where: Mixture of in-person & online components. When: Course is scheduled at a specific time for students to attend. Combination of face-to-face and online components at specific times. Some online components may be accessed online anytime.
  • Hyflex: Where: Choice to attend in-person or online meetings. When: Course is scheduled at a specific time for students to attend. For each class, students choose to attend in-person with the instructor or online at a specific time.
  • Remote Live Delivery: Where: Online with instructor. When: Course is scheduled at a specific time for students to attend. Instruction is delivered at set times online. Students do not come to campus.
  • Remote On-Demand Delivery: Where: Online anytime. When: No set class meetings. Coursework is accessed on-demand and online. While there are no set class meetings, there may be set due dates and deadlines for some activities. Students may interact with peers through virtual tools.
  • Remote Independent: Where: Online anytime. When: No set class meetings. Coursework is accessed on-demand and online, with no instructor support. While students choose when to do coursework, there may be set due dates and deadlines. 
  • Work Placement: Where: In-person meetings. When: Work is scheduled at a specific time for students to attend. Onsite work integrated learning. Location at a worksite.
